Schwalbe Magic Mary#

Schwalbe’s aggressive enduro front tire installed on the front of the Transition Relay Alloy PNW. The Magic Mary is a dedicated front tire — its tread pattern is optimised for braking traction and cornering grip rather than rolling efficiency. Paired with the Schwalbe Big Betty at the rear.

Compound & Casing#
ADDIX Soft is Schwalbe’s maximum-grip compound — prioritises traction over rolling resistance. Ideal for front tire use where grip is more critical than efficiency, and for the wet roots, mud, and loose-over-hard conditions common in enduro riding.
Super Trail casing sits between the lighter Performance and the bombproof Ultra Soft casing. It uses reinforced sidewalls (2-ply in the sidewall zone) to resist cuts and pinch flats without the weight penalty of the full enduro casing. The right balance for a bike used on enduro trails with a moderate weight focus.
Tread Design#
Large, aggressive knobs with wide spacing throughout. The centre knobs are tall and ramped toward the rear for braking traction. Corner knobs extend far onto the sidewall and are angled to dig in during lean — the Magic Mary is specifically engineered to hold a line through rough, off-camber corners.
The front-specific design means it rolls noticeably slower than a dual-purpose tire; this is intentional — the Schwalbe Big Betty handles the rear where rolling efficiency matters more.
Tubeless Setup#
TLR bead; 4–5 oz of sealant recommended for the 2.4" volume. Typical trail pressures:
| Rider weight | Front |
|---|---|
| ~70 kg | 22–26 PSI |
| ~80 kg | 24–28 PSI |
| ~90 kg | 26–30 PSI |
