Voigtlander 28mm f2 Ultron VM#
Voigtlander’s fast 28mm for the M-mount system. “Ultron” is Voigtlander’s designation for their f/2 prime line — the equivalent tier to Leica’s “Summicron”. “VM” confirms Leica M-compatible mount. Joins the APO-LANTHAR 50mm and Summicron 35mm to extend the M-mount kit into wider territory on the M11.
At 28mm on a full-frame sensor, this is a versatile wide — wider than the documentary 35mm but less extreme than ultra-wides, well-suited to street, environmental portraits, and travel.

EXIF Behaviour#
No 6-bit coding chip — the M11 reports whatever 28mm profile has been set manually in the lens detection menu. In practice this lens has appeared as two different EXIF identifiers:
| EXIF reported | Actual lens |
|---|---|
| Summicron-M 1:2/28 ASPH. | Voigtlander Ultron 28mm F2 VM |
| Elmarit-M 1:2.8/28 | Voigtlander Ultron 28mm F2 VM |
Use with Leica M11#
The VM mount fits M11 directly — no adapter needed. The rangefinder couples mechanically. Set the lens profile manually in the M11 menu (Lens Detection → Manual) to enable in-camera vignetting correction and capture a consistent EXIF focal length.
